| Just thought I'd add a memory. This is Jiip and Joy, the twin sisters, age 17, of the Thai family that I stayed with.

This quote was recently given to me. With my facination with Coca-Cola, I of course thought this was enlighting.
Coca-Cola’s
1993 annual report said, “All of us in the Coca-Cola family wake up
each morning knowing that every single one of the world’s 5.6 billion
people will get thirsty that day. If we make it impossible for these
5.6 billion people to escape Coca-Cola, then we secure our future
success for many years to come. Doing anything else is not an option.”

These days my time has been
full of Chinese studies. I am taking two Chinese courses at PITT
(University of Pittsburgh) this fall. That means some serious
brain usage ... but it has been a lot of fun (believe it or not!).
To ease all your growing inquiries, the decision to study Chinese
during this time at home is an effort to keep studying and
learning. It was not necessarily decided upon because of a
particular future assignment in mind. I feel that this study will
aid whatever project I get assigned to. Most of the languages
that I will or could be working with in the future are (one) either
located in China (as well as other countries in the area), (two) have originated in China, or (three) the
language is some how related to Chinese.
For example the language project I have been involved with the last
three years is all of the above; they are located in Thailand but they
also have a large population in China, they originated in the highlands
of China, and their language is part of the Chinese language family.

| Ok,
so the object here is to find a suitable web-based platform to host my
Email Updates. Something that you can access at your
convenience. But at the same time, when I add a posting I'll
email it to you, just like before, so you will know when there is
something new and don't need to keep checking back.
A plus to something like this is you can interact
with my updates if you'd like. All you have to do is click on the
'comment' link under a particular log and, presto, immediate
interaction. So let's try out this interactive thing and let me
know what do you think?
